Test Ride the 2010 Specialized Bikes
On Tuesday, August 10th from 5 to 8 pm Specialized reps will be bringing a literal truckload of the best bikes they have to offer out to Lake Evergreen - aka Comlara State Park. This is open for everyone who wants to ride the best of both road and mountain bikes, so be sure to bring pedals and a helmet (nobody rides without a lid on their dome) and get ready to have some crazy fun!
We'll be CLOSED on
JULY 31st so we can ride
our butts off at:
MILES OF SMILES
It's that time of year again, time for your annual century ride. And what better ride is there than the Miles of Smiles 100? It is 100 miles if smiles and fun, but you can stop at 60 miles if you prefer. Or go for the Iron Butt award, all miles after 12:01 am of the 31st count.
The place: Phil (Geno) & Sandy Warlow's home in Hudson (105 Hunter Court in the Prairie View subdivision).
The time: Everyone will start at 7:00 am.
What will be happening: Lots. Besides the ride of course, there are brats and tons of food for after the ride, door prizes, 1st Century awards, Iron Butt awards, and the much sought after MOS 100 hats for the first 150 riders.
What can you expect: No sag vehicles. This is a self supported ride. Take money and extra parts (tubes, wrenches, etc). Convenience store stops will be at 25, 50, and 75 miles.
Will you get lost: NO. But there are those people... Maps will be supplied and this is the best arrowed course anywhere. Period!
What is the cost of all this fun: NOTHING! It is free, but donations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be accepted.
You need more information! Call Phil (Geno) at 726-1515, 309-531-2537, or email him at philwarlow@hotmail.com
Sorry for the lack of recent race reports, but the team has been busy since the last race update. At the State Criterium Championships in Peoria, IL Mark Tank represented the team well with a 6th place finish in the Masters 30+. Aaron Fader finished 13th in the same race, which was is first criterium in about 5 years. Later in the day David Reyes finished 2nd in the Cat. 3 race.
Andy Heikes traveled to the Kansas State Road Race and finished second in the Cat. 4 race. He also went solo to southern Illinois to participate in the Great Egyptian Omnium. After a time trial, road race, and criterium he finished second overall.
Dustin Morici has been upgraded to a Cat. 3 racer after placing second in the Cat. 4 race at The Lake Geneva Criterium. David Reyes finished 9th later in the Cat. 3 race.
Last weekend was the Jubilee Challenge mountain bike race in Peoria, IL, where Brad Flachsbart won his first Sport class race. Aaron Fader finished 7th despite having to stop for a mechanical problem.
Congratulations to our multi-sport racers participating in the Lake Evergreen Triathlon.
Developed after years of working with Dr.
Andy Pruitt Ed.D., PA of the Boulder Center
for Sports Medicine and found only at your
local Specialized dealer, BG FIT (Body
Geometry Fit Integration Technology) is a
comprehensive fit philosophy created to help
cyclists ride faster, longer and in greater
comfort, while reducing the chance for injury.
BG FIT “technicians” are trained by the
medical consultants and expert staff at
Specialized to analyze each rider’s unique
attributes, pedal stroke and body position.
Using the data gained during the assessment,
they optimize the bike and equipment to
match the rider’s bio-mechanical profile.
Unlike any of the nameless fit systems
available today, BG FIT is the only one to
leverage trained fit technicians, breakthrough
fit tools like a detailed and dynamic fit
assessment process, plus ergonomically
enhanced bikes and equipment.
Without this specific combination of
ingredients, you simply aren’t getting a BG FIT.
Specialized bicycles and equipment have
been used at the highest level of competition
for many years. Now, so has BG FIT. We are
proud to assess athletes from Quick Step and
Saxo Bank including Fabian Cancellara, Andy
and Frank Schleck, Jens Voigt and Team
Director Bjarne Riis. Also relying on BG FIT
are athletes from MTB and Tri disciplines,
including Christoph Sauser, Rebecca Rush,
Desirée Flicker and Conrad Stoltz; each of
these world-class athletes have trusted their
bikes and bodies to Specialized and BG FIT.
Dr. Andy Pruitt and several of our expert
fitters set the Saxo Team up on their bikes just
before entering the 2009 race season, and
Team Director (and cycling legend) Bjarne
Riis even went so far as to say, “I feel my body
in a whole new way” after testing his newly
fitted ride.
Point being: BG FIT provides quantifiable
benefits that even the most discerning riders
recognize.
Our prices range from $30 to $300 and take from half an hour to three hours to complete. Go to our Labor Rates page for prices and more info...

The Comlara Off-Road Biking Association (C.O.R.B.A.) was founded to help promote the sport of mountain biking at Comlara Park. Members frequently help to upkeep and design new trails as Mc Lean County park volunteers.
The Club and members also help the park with the annual Mud Sweat and Gears (MS&G) race. This race is part of the I-74 race series which includes races from the Quad Cities all the way to Danville. Past involvement in the MS&G race has included course design suggestions, race course prep, and race day volunteer staffing.
